Red Elation Gallery is delighted to present an Asian emerging artists group exhibition by Sim CHAN, Teppei MIYAKE and TAI Han-Hong, titled “ENVIRON(S): Cityscape”. These three artists represent the different perspectives of young men from different urban centers in Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan, respectively. “ENVIRON(S)” starts from a point and extends in all directions simultaneously; it is a boundary or an infinity of surroundings. “Cityscape” is one of the components in nature. The artists’ works offer an original point of view in relation to architecture, environment and human experiences, and gives the audience an insight into our living space through a rethinking of limits and boundaries.
The “SimCity” series by Sim CHAN delineates a panoramic view of random edifices in an open environment. Unlike his “SimSky” series, the canvas becomes the artist’s window to the outside world, which provides him with a different vision, yet isolation. Teppei Miyake’s creative focus is a rethink of Japanese culture, tourism and the structure of society. His work “The Waterfall” involves ideas to solve current environmental issues and also examines values in Japan after the war. TAI Han-Hong explores issues of interaction and boundaries between corresponding situations in his sculpture “Unluxurious house plan #1” - the point, line and surface extend conceptually while we are clarifying the position of the boundary.
